# \setupblackrules

## Syntax

\setupblackrules[...,...=...,...] width dimension max height dimension max depth dimension max color colorspec alternative a b distance dimension n number

## Description

width = (dimension): width across the page. Default = 1em

height = (dimension): thickness above the current baseline

depth = (dimension): thickness below the current baseline

By setting the width, height or depth to `max`, one gets the natural dimensions (the dimensions of TeX’s `\strutbox`).

color = (colorspec): any of defined colors (color must be turned on!)

alternative = a | b: in the case of multiple rules (n>1), alternative a (default) treats `width` as the dimension of one rule, while alternative b -- for the whole series.
